On May 20, the Theodore Roosevelt Center sponsored a special event at Sulgrave Manor in the United Kingdom. The manor is the ancestral home of George Washington, and the event was one of the UK’s foremost celebrations for America 250. U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom Warren Stephens and his wife, Harriet Stephens, joined the proceedings. Ambassador Stephens delivered a rousing speech on the strength of the special relationship between the two countries, emphasizing the security, economic, and social connections across the Atlantic.

Dr. Cullinane attended the event and chaired a panel about the global influence of the Anglo-American relationship. He also joined a private reception with Ambassador Stephens and explained how western North Dakota is becoming a central location for Roosevelt’s legacy.

This is the second international event sponsored by the Theodore Roosevelt Center. In 2025, the Center sponsored an event at the Roosevelt Institute of American Studies in the Netherlands. This sponsorship raises the profile of the Center and DSU overseas. It also builds networks with international scholars, business leaders, diplomats, and stakeholders.
