This Fall, from October 9-11 the Theodore Roosevelt Center’s (TRC) 21st Annual Symposium will combine with the Theodore Roosevelt Association’s (TRA) 107th Annual Meeting in the first-ever Theodore Roosevelt Convention, or TeddyCon. “Just like the TRC Digital Library brings different collections of Theodore Roosevelt papers together in a single database, TeddyCon is bringing different Theodore Roosevelt organizations together in a single place,” says Erik Johnson, Theodore Roosevelt Center Co-Director. “We hope the personal connections fostered by the gathering are just as beneficial as the links between documents that we’re able to highlight in our work!”

TeddyCon will take place in Medora, North Dakota at the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, with the theme “Looking Back, Moving Forward” and host an estimated 300+ attendees. The classic elements of the TRC symposium will remain, with panels of distinguished TR scholars and historians covering a range of topics. The weekend will also “stage a play, host folk singer Mason Via, and give visitors an inside look at podcasting. Delegates can explore a stacked exhibit hall, the many activities in Medora, including the National Park, and may even attend the DSU rodeo. This will be so much more than a typical symposium," notes Michelle Cullinane, Theodore Roosevelt Center Co-Director.

The TRC staff couldn’t be more excited about the combination of events this October and the opportunities it has created, and TeddyCon is certainly turning the heads of historians, educators, conservationists, and TR enthusiasts everywhere towards Medora. "TeddyCon will be an international affair,” says Dr. Cullinane. “Along with representation from nearly every state in the USA, we have exhibitors from Kenya, Uganda, and Brazil attending. Roosevelt was a citizen of the world and TeddyCon has an international reach.
