The DSU Heritage Foundation is pleased to spotlight one of its newest team members, Clayton Schutt, whose creativity and steady behind-the-scenes work have quickly become an important part of the Foundation’s social media and events. Clayton first joined DSU HF in the spring of 2024 as an intern and stayed through the summer to support campus activities and events. He returned in the spring of 2025 for a second internship, and now serves as a part-time employee, working closely with Kierra and the rest of the staff.

Clayton has taken on a major role in helping shape the Foundation’s social media presence. He creates Alumni Spotlights, Donor Spotlights, Staff Spotlights, Throwback Thursday posts, Fun Facts, and other content that keeps people connected to DSU. Seeing alumni and community members interact with the posts—whether it’s a simple like or a meaningful comment—is something he takes a lot of pride in. He’s also involved in many Foundation events, helping make sure everything comes together smoothly.
Executive Director Ty Orton shared his appreciation for Clayton’s growing impact, saying, “Clayton has helped develop our social media, and his understanding of marketing and his area is very strong. He continues to work with the Foundation and our alumni and donors to keep everyone informed.” That encouragement has helped Clayton build confidence as he works toward his goal of becoming a social media manager in a major business or sports organization.
When he’s not working, Clayton is usually catching a game—he’s a big 49ers and Warriors fan—or spending time with family here in Dickinson. As the Foundation continues to expand its online reach, Clayton’s enthusiasm and fresh ideas are helping share the Blue Hawk story with more people than ever.
