The Blake family, led by Pat and Carolyn, are longstanding supporters of Dickinson State University (DSU), participating as boosters since the 80s. When their son Jaden (’02) graduated from DSU and wanted to support the university personally, the Blake Family Annual Scholarship was created. “As an alumnus and a past scholarship recipient I wanted to contribute and carry on the support of DSU and give the opportunity for scholarships for current and future DSU students,” said Jaden.
“What stands out about the Blake family is their multigenerational commitment to giving back, from their early days as boosters to Jaden’s leadership as an alumnus,” said Ty Orton, Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation. “Their generosity ensures that student-athletes have the encouragement and resources to thrive.” The Blake Family Annual Scholarship supports a member of the DSU Men’s Basketball Team who works hard both on the court and in the classroom. “I am excited for the opportunity to be able to support a specific individual on the men’s basketball team, said Jaden, “and I look forward to following the scholarship recipients on their collegiate journey.”

Pat and Carolyn are both retired and spend their time volunteering with various organizations in the Dickinson community and attending DSU events. When possible, Jaden joins his parents in supporting current DSU students, especially the pre-game tailgating and post-game social events during Homecoming where he can catch up with past teammates and fellow alumni. Jaden currently lives and works in Fargo with his wife Mendi and twin daughters where he serves as president of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that hosts cycling races and rides in the area. In their personal time Jaden and Mendi are loud supporters of their daughter’s athletic pursuits. The family is excited for the summer months when they will be traveling to both the Yellowstone and Teton National Parks.
