Public service takes many forms. It can be found in classrooms, businesses, volunteer organizations, local government, nonprofit work, and in the countless ways people invest in their communities every day.

At Dickinson State University and the DSU Heritage Foundation, we are proud to be part of a community that understands the value of service.

Together, we help strengthen western North Dakota through:
Education and Economic Impact
More than 1,400 students learn, work, and live in our community, contributing to Dickinson's economy and future workforce. DSU generates an estimated $85.8 million in annual economic impact, hosts more than 110 athletic events each year, and partners with regional schools to expand educational opportunities for high school juniors and seniors.
Support Through Charitable Gaming
The DSU Heritage Foundation participates in charitable gaming in accordance with North Dakota law. Proceeds from charitable gaming help support the Foundation's educational and charitable purposes and further its mission.
Student Success Through Scholarships
Generous donors make it possible for students to pursue a Dickinson State education through scholarship support. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the DSU Heritage Foundation will award more than $2.1 million in scholarships to DSU students. These investments help students achieve their goals while preparing them to make a difference in their communities.
None of this happens alone.
Today, we celebrate and thank the educators, healthcare workers, first responders, nonprofit leaders, business owners, volunteers, alumni, donors, and community members who make Dickinson and western North Dakota stronger through their service.

On this National Public Service Day, thank you for the role you play in supporting Dickinson State University, our students, and our community. We are grateful to serve alongside you.
