Get ready, Blue Hawk Nation – something exciting is coming for the youngest fans of Dickinson State University football! The DSU Heritage Foundation is delighted to announce the upcoming release of An Alphabet Book for Little Blue Hawks, a companion children’s book to the highly anticipated adult book: 100 Years of DSU Football.
Illustrated by acclaimed local artist Sara Worner, this charming ABC book is more than just a way to teach the alphabet. Packed with fascinating Blue Hawk and football facts, it’s a playful and educational journey into the world of DSU athletics. Vibrant illustrations promise to make this book as stunning as it is educational.
From A is for Attendance (Blue Hawk fans always show up strong!) to Z is for End Zone, each letter introduces kids to fun football terms and DSU traditions. Young readers will discover highlights like:
· T is for Touchdown, the moment every Blue Hawk fan cheers the loudest!
· Q is for Quarterback, the leader who calls the plays on the field.
· U is for Uprights, 20 feet – as tall as a T-Rex!
The book is proudly sponsored by Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Dickinson. As a nod to their support, Coca-Cola logos will be hidden throughout the book, creating a “Where’s Waldo?” style game for little readers to enjoy.
“This book is a perfect way to engage young fans and celebrate the legacy of Blue Hawk football,” said Ty Orton, Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation. “From learning the alphabet to discovering fun football tidbits, it’s a book the whole family can enjoy. And with Sara Worner’s stunning artwork, it will be a standout addition to anyone’s library.”
An Alphabet Book for Little Blue Hawks is slated for publication in early summer 2025, just in time for families to add it to their summer reading lists. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or Blue Hawk fan, this book is sure to become a cherished keepsake for generations to come.
Information on how to preorder both books will be available soon at: DSU 100 Years of Football
