Kelly Reid became a devoted Blue Hawks fan when his son, Dalton Reid (’16), was recruited onto the Dickinson State University (DSU) Football team. As Kelly Reid attended every game, he became familiar with the people who made DSU unique and even became one of the first members of the DSU Touchdown Club. Reid continues to support DSU a decade after his son became an alumnus, notably through scholarship donations.

Reid watched as college students struggled to focus on their education and experiences and missed out on opportunities due to the financial burden that sometimes accompanies higher education. When his wife passed away, he established the Cindy Reid Memorial Annual Scholarship to help ease the burden on DSU students. “Times are tough for families, and I just want to make it easier on them. The more students we can get through college, the better off our whole country will be,” explained Reid. He recognizes the value of a college education as an accomplishment that lasts a lifetime and hopes to see every DSU student earn their degree. As a Miles City resident, Reid is familiar with many DSU scholarship recipients and their family members.

"Kelly Reid's generosity is deeply appreciated by the DSU Heritage Foundation and the recipients of his scholarship. Reid's efforts make a clear difference in the future of those scholarship recipients,” said Ty Orton, Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation.
Reid continues to attend DSU events, making a day out of home football games to cheer on the Blue Hawks from Miles City in his box at the Biesiot Activities Center (BAC). “I appreciate DSU and the people that run it,” said Reid. “The school has come a long way, and I look forward to supporting it for years to come.” Reid is excited for the next football season, but in the meantime, will enjoy a trip to Panama in February and a cruise in June.
